Coil Tubing Solutions didn’t respond immediately
Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB), the world’s largest oil-field service company, sued a competitor for trademark infringement.
The suit, filed in federal court in Corpus Christi, Texas, accused Coil Tubing Solutions LLC of infringing marks belonging to Schlumberger’s Coil Tubing Services unit.
Schlumberger, based in Houston, objected to the name of the competing company, which it said was largely composed of former Schlumberger employees. It also said Coil Tubing Solutions makes unauthorized use of “Schlumberger blue,” a color it said has traditionally been associated with the company.
In addition to the trademark claims, Schlumberger said Lafayette, Louisiana-based Coil Tubing has perpetuated a systematic raiding of Schlumberger’s workforce.
Coil Tubing Solutions didn’t respond immediately to an e-mailed request for comment on the suit.
The case is Schlumberger Technology Corp. v. Coil Tubing Solutions LLC, 14-cv-00430, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas (Corpus Christi).
